October 26, 2004

It's been a crazy couple days! The press conference, the articles, the Billy Wong event. The Stuff leading up to the Billy Wong Event. That all came to an end last night. For anyone that didn't come, missed a good, fun time. BEARDS FOR CANCER would LOVE to THANK all of the awesome people that were able to come out last night and raise a drink to fighting cancer and everyone that bought a raffle ticket! ALSO, we would LOVE to THANK Couzin Ed, Kim, and everyone at WYSP and everyone on the BILLY WONGS staff. I would like to reiterate how last night would not have been successful with out everyone that came out to support us. Thank you for making our night! BUT we still got some more stuff to do, and more money to raise. So keep checking back for all the newest and latest and hottest BEARDS FOR CANCER news. Woooo!

October 21, 2004

...and NOW, pictures from two days AGO! enjoy!

October 20, 2004

Our press conference was yesterday; let me give you the 411 on what happened: IT RAINED, and then Alex came out and said his speech. And here is that speech:

When we first started out with Beards For Cancer we thought it would be a walk in the park. It would be so easy to just not shave for a year.

Not shaving is easy; it has definitely saved us some time in the morning,

but what is not easy is to hear all of the heart breaking stories of those who have lost friends, lost loved ones and lost children.

That is not easy.

It's not easy knowing that 1,368,030 people will be diagnosed with cancer in the year 2004 alone. That's a new diagnosis every 23 seconds!

It's not easy knowing that 563,700 people will die as a result of cancer this year. That's more then 1500 people dying every day!

And it's the hardest to know that there are still countless number of people oblivious to all of this , and that only helps to perpetuate this horrible cycle.

But what's nice to know is that there is hope.

There are organizations such as: The American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, Locks of Love.

And they are doing everything they can in the fight against cancer.

It's nice to know that information is easy to spread these days.

Knowledge is power. No one should be uninformed.

I stand before you talking as someone that has lost loved ones, I have friends with this disease.

I stand here asking for a change.

We need more people to start making a donation, as big or small as it is, it will help.

Cancer will effect everyone in some way during their lifetime.

Let's start doing something about it.

Beards For Cancer is doing something about it, and now's the time to join the fight.

Help us in our mission, and if you can't help us then help one of the other groups I've mentioned.

.WE.CAN.MAKE.A.DIFFERENCE.

Then, after that people clapped, Ryan came up to present this new news:

Join Beards For Cancer @ Billy Wongs Oct. 25th as we fight Cancer one glass at a time.

Where: Billy Wong 50 South Second Street

Philadelphia PA, 19106 (right off of Market St.)

When: October 25th Between 9pm and 2am.

Win prizes provided by 94 WYSP and local restaurants

.NO COVER.

Let me just say, WOW! that is some big news. Can you even get bigger then that.? YES WE CAN! That is when Tommy came out and showed everyone the thermometer we made and will stay at WATCHDOG VIDEO, so people can see our progress. We to this date made $1,744.45. Our goal is $5,000 by December 3rd, but that is not the big news. When Tommy, Ryan, and Alex finally shave again, lose all their beard hair, and give all the money to the American Caner Society, Eric Pickard and Brian Mock, two guys from PHILLY will shave for BEARDS FOR CANCER 2. That's right. We are doing it again. Just not us. Eric and Brian. This should be fun. More info on BFC2 later.

And that was the end of the press, hoo ha! We gave milk and cookies to everyone, it rained more, and people went home. Thanks for all the people that came. Hope to see everyone at Billy Wongs. ROCK ON!

October 18, 2004

We are having a press conference tomorow (Tuesday OCTOBER 19, 2004) at WATCHDOG VIDEO, 4:00PM. There will be MILK and COOKIES. The address to Watchdog is simple: 29 East Kings Highway, AUDOBON, NJ 08106. We will be giving the most up to date BFC news and presenting the world with our thermometer. Check out the process of us making the so-called thermometer. Also, come tomorow and support BEARDS FOR CANCER. It will be a fun evening, and when the press conference is done, rent some movies at WATCHDOG VIDEO, or buy some old VHS. One for 3.99 or three for 7.99. You can't beat that, now can you?! CAN YOU?

August 14, 2004

For anyone who  has tried to e-mail us since yesterday, our e-mail server is down and will probably be down till Tuesday or Wedesday, so if you e-mail us during this time we will not get it. So, if anyone needs to contact us, a temporary e-mail is set up. Click here. Thank YOU!

Ok, in other news. I went to get my haircut at Frank's today. The same place we got our faces shaved 8 months ago, and don't worry, they didnt touch the beard. I just got my hair cut. But let me tell you, these people are the nicest people in the world, and they give a great haircut. Not only did they donate their time and money 8 months ago when we shaved, but today again they donated some more time and more money. I got my haircut by George, the best haircut I ever got. I am not just saying that either. So I urge everyone to go get their hair cut at Frank's Men's Hair Styling. 7 Kings Highway East Haddonfield, NJ 08033. The place that is filled with perfection and personality, I can only say kind words about these guys and gals. Thank YOU Frank's for your support and kindness!

Friday, JUNE 18th WASTED APPLES will be playing at midnight followed by never before seen outakes from Here's to Yesterday. Saturday JUNE 19th SMALL KID TANK TOP will be playing at midnight and also a live performance by the Nitty Gritty before it. And Sunday, HERE'S TO YESTERDAY will be playing at midnight. The first set of Rock Hard Klothing T-Shirts will be for sale all three nights. This should be a big event. It's a celebration of MMN productions turning ten years old. So they/we are having a showing of the station trilogy, and some of the profits go to Beards for Cancer. More info to come soon.

May 8, 2004

Sorry for the delay, but the new beards pictures are up. TODAY! Hoooraayyyy!!

April 20, 2004

We at BFC would like to thank everyone that put together the LaSalle Benefit show and the Haddonfield Covers for a Cause show. You guys donated your time and helped us raise some money for a good cause. So a big thank you goes out to anyone that made the two shows happen, and to anyone that came to the shows and donated money. Another thank you goes out to the Relay for Life  in Delaware. Students of the University of Delaware had Ryan and I (Tommy) come out and talk at their Relay for Life Benefit. It was a lot of fun. Ryan went up and talked, we went around talking to some of the survivors, and we actually walked a couple laps ourselves. It was great to see that many people helping out. It gives you a big smile to think that  so many people care and give their support. Good Job GUYS!

April 16, 2004

The Haddonfield show is tonight. Covers for a Cause. We made T-Shirts for it. We only made ten. So everyone must come to the show so you can buy them. They will be 10 bucks each, all profits go to the BFC. Craig Darpino made them. Real good shirts, done up real well. He donated his time to make the shirts, but if you want shirts made real good, he comes at a good cost. Give him an e-mail if you want. The show is tonight, so off to the show, we all must go!

February 25, 2004

We've got some information for a show we are doing with Relay For Life. On April 16th, Relay For Life and Beards for Cancer will be sponsoring "COVERS FOR A CAUSE."  It's a very good idea Alex had. Local bands will be playing cover songs all night, so it should be fun. The only bands we know for sure that will be playing is Dirty Larry and luckystar. It's still early, so we don't know all the details, but we do know doors will open around 6:15/6:30, first band goes on at 7:00 p.m. and the last band will be done by 11:00 p.m. It should be great. All the money goes to Relay for Life and Beards for Cancer. It will be at the Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick Road, Haddonfield, New Jersey 08033. More info shall be posted when we have it.

February 24, 2004

We have some new sponsors and everything is going great. Well, I am off, I've got a beard to grow. Make sure you come back for the latest Beard for Cancer news.
